Aptech Industrial Park is a large-scale industrial development located in Kashimpur, Gazipur, the industrial hub of Bangladesh. The project represents the significant growth of the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) industry, which has played a vital role in Bangladesh’s economic development by creating employment opportunities and contributing to socio-economic progress. Inspired by the global recognition of the phrase “Made in Bangladesh,” the project aims to create an architectural identity that reflects the country’s heritage, craftsmanship, and industrial strength.
The architectural concept was developed around the idea of representing Bangladesh through its built environment. The north and south elevations of the Sewing and Finishing Building were inspired by the iconic architectural language of the National Parliament House of Bangladesh, while exposed concrete and brick were used to express robustness, durability, simplicity, and low-maintenance construction. The material expression also reflects the traditional weaving and craftsmanship heritage of Bangladesh’s textile industry.
Spread over a site area of 42,783.37 square meters, with a total building footprint of 70,511.52 square meters, Aptech Industrial Park accommodates approximately 10,000 workers per shift. Considering the complexity and scale of industrial operations, the design focuses on efficient horizontal and vertical circulation systems. All ten buildings are strategically zoned to manage high-volume movement, functional requirements, and fire safety risks. Special attention was given to fire protection, particularly in the Sewing and Finishing Building, where isolated fire stairs, emergency bridges, and large ventilation openings ensure safer evacuation during emergencies.
Sustainability was a fundamental aspect of the project. All buildings are oriented along the north-south axis to optimize climatic performance, while large floor layouts and high ceilings enhance natural lighting and ventilation. Climate-responsive strategies such as vertical brick louvers on west-facing windows and concrete louvers on south-facing windows minimize direct solar heat gain. These measures improve indoor environmental quality, enhance worker comfort, and reduce operational energy consumption.
Aptech Industrial Park has received international recognition for its contribution to green industrial architecture and sustainable design. The project has been featured in several national and international architectural publications and platforms. It is also a LEED-certified green building project, achieving the prestigious LEED Platinum Certification for its excellence in sustainable building practices, energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and innovative industrial Design.
