Mahmuda Plaza
Narsindi, Dhaka
2020
This proposal was for commercial development at the Palash Upazila, Narsindi, Dhaka. The land area was 15 Katha and the front road width was approximately 18 feet. We proposed two design options for the development. One was a three-storied shopping facility and the other was Mixed Use development.
Both the design proposals were incorporated with the same characteristics of the court, inspired by the surrounding vernacular architecture where natural ventilation was prioritized. The use of contemporary elements in the design was encouraged to uplift the suburban fenestration and symbolized the development of the area.
Option one proposes a six-storied mixed-use development comprised of a 20,000sqft shopping facility and 17400sqft residential apartments. The residential part started from the third floor and each floor comprised five units connected by an open corridor. The shopping facilities are arranged around an inward court with interacting design features.
